Subject: New Features added to OMNIport

Hello,

OMNIport has been working hard to improve its service to you. We have
recently improved our Great List site so that
ALL of the links are only a click or two away.

Also, we have been in negotiation with Southwestern Bell to expand our
dial-up services by increasing the number of lines to approximately
2.5 times what we are currently supporting. With this increase comes
an additional benefit, the lines will be fully digital from the central
office to OMNIport's Hurst dial-in center... the Grand Prairie dial-in
center is already fully digital.

What this means to you is that 56K connections are now possible. To enable
the new lines, there will be a phone number change for ALL customers to
access the new lines. When the number is live, you will be notified.
To be sure, a 56K connection will improve your access. However, you must
keep in mind that the 56Kbps speed is a "theoretical maximum" for download
only. Your actual connection speed may vary depending on your phone lines.
Typical connection experience from the Grand Prairie center is from 40Kbps
to as high as 54Kbps.

Note: On or about January 2, 2000, Southwestern Bell had inadvertently
changed the #2 line in the Hurst dial-in group to a different number.
The problem was corrected on January 4, 2000 ... however, a number of
dial-in customers have experienced busy signals when attempting to
connect to OMNIport from time to time when there have been free lines
available. OMNIport has not been able to get this problem resolved
to our satisfaction. The change in phone lines indicated above will
remedy this since a new hunt group will be installed. For those of
you that are experiencing difficulties, please bear with us and please
send us an e-mail stating the times you have had busy signals and the
type of modem you have. The problem may be related to particular modem
types and not show up with others.

One last change is the addition of a new mail server ... one with more space,
a 50% faster processor, and updated software able to detect and block SPAM
a bit better. Thus as mentioned in an earlier e-mail, you should make sure
your OUTGOING mail server is set to smtp.omniport.net and your INCOMING mail
server (i.e. where you check your mail) is set to pop3.omniport.net ...
if so, the changeover will be transparent to you.

The new mail server should go on-line this evening ... Sunday January 16, 2000.

Regards,
